Voters on Tuesday approved Measure A. It extends binding arbitration…something Sacramento sheriff’s deputies and police officers have already had…to probation officers, sergeants and other administrators in the Sheriff’s Department.

Greg Stuber is president of the Sacramento County Probation Association labor union.

“We’re just very pleased with the support by the citizens of the county to recognize the hard work that we do and the fairness in involving us with the other law enforcement agencies in binding arbitration.”

The union will now be able to call in a third-party negotiator to resolve stalled contract talks with the county in the future.

There was no organized opposition against Measure A. It passed by 53%.
