Monday/Today (5.4) is the last day you can register to vote in California’s special election.

As Capital Public Radio's Steve Shadley reports, elections officials are urging everyone to make sure their voter information is current before the deadline...
Only a few weeks remain until the May 19th special election.  That’s when voters will have their say on six state budget-related propositions lawmakers put on the ballot.  Gail Pellerin is vice president of the California Association of Clerks and Election officials.  She says Monday also is the deadline for voters to update their registration information…
“If you have moved since the last election then you need to re-register at your new place of residence.  Or, if you’ve changed your name or have not been on the voter files yet…this is your opportunity.  And, it has to be post marked Monday so people need to pick up that card and get it dropped off in the mail or get dropped off directly to the election official’s office…”
Pellerin says budget constraints are forcing many counties to open fewer polling places.  She’s urging voters to check sample ballots they’re receiving in the mail to find out where they’ll cast ballots on May 19th
