The survey finds that around two-thirds of the people questioned are confident President Barack Obama will do a good job…and think the country will be better off in four years.

But Sacramento State pollster Amy Liu says those numbers are sharply divided along party lines.

“More than 80% of the Democrats feel confident in his ability to be a good president and think the country will be better off in four years. On the other hand, only about a third of Republicans feel confident in his ability.”

The poll found that more than 90% of residents in the Sacramento area think rising unemployment and the economic meltdown are problems.

The random telephone survey was conducted from mid-February to early-March.
