This Friday is the last day to pay the second installment of your annual property tax bill…that is if you didn’t pay the whole thing back in December.
And if you plan to pay in person…you won’t be the only one.
“We’ve already picked up on traffic of people who are wanting to pay here in the office.”
Cynthia Gibbs is with the Sacramento County Tax Collector’s Office. She says if you recently bought property for a lesser value or you disagree over the assessed value of your property, you still need to pay the bill on time.
And if you’re thinking…’I never got a bill so I don’t need to pay, right?’
“…unfortunately no. Non receipt of a tax bill does not allow the tax collector to postpone or cancel penalties.”
Payments must be received in the Tax Collector’s Office by 5 PM Friday or either postmarked or paid through the county’s website.
People who pay late will be hit with a 10% penalty.
