Campus officials Tuesday today said the university only admitted 46% of its freshman applicants…it’s lowest admission rate ever. Last year, the campus admitted 52%.
Pamela Burnett heads undergraduate admissions at UCD. She says they had to reduce enrollment because of state budget cuts.
“That and in UC Davis’ case in combination with a 4% application increase that we weren’t quite expecting but that kind of raised the level of competition for the admitted freshman class.”
She says that means they have to be more selective of the students they accept.
In fact, the average grade-point-average of this year’s freshman class is 4.0 compared to 3.94 last year.
