The poll found that 59% are not planning to hire anyone for at least the next three months.
Rick Reed is with Pacific Staffing which conducted the survey. He says only 14% say they’ll be hiring.
“They’re expecting to do some workforce growth. But it’ll be small numbers of specialized engineering, computer technical, customer service call centers, sales backgrounds, health information, insurance specialists, those kinds of things.”
Another 30% of the companies polled say they’ll be hiring in the next three months for seasonal needs and to replace workers who leave.
Meanwhile, 16% of local companies say they may have to layoff more workers between now and June if the economy doesn’t pick up.
