“Tomorrow the one day of spring will be over and we’ll go back to winter rain like conditions over the weekend.”
Johnnie Powell is a forecaster with the National Weather Service in Sacramento. He says on Saturday a storm system from the Gulf of Alaska will be heading into Northern California.
“It’ll bring us a half-an-inch of rain in valley locations and probably a foot of snow in the mountains with the heaviest precip occurring Saturday night into Sunday morning.”
Powell says the system will also bring cooler daytime temperatures: low-to-mid 60s in the Sacramento Valley…30s and 40s in the Lake Tahoe area.
He says the rainy weather isn’t unusual for March…and precipitation levels are still well-below average for this time of year.
Spring-like weather is expected to return on Monday with sunny skies and warmer temperatures.
