California Peace Groups are holding candle light vigils and memorials in observance of the sixth anniversary of the Iraq War this week.
A “Celebration of Hope” was held at a Unitarian Church in Sacramento Thursday (3.18).

Minister Roger Jones says the Iraq War has been overshadowed recently by media coverage of the recession.  But, he says bringing an end to the war is still a goal of global peace activists…
“The people of Iraq are suffering and grieving countless losses and we can’t forget that that is still going on in our name…and that the disaster that started six years ago has not ended…”
Since the war began in 2003, the Pentagon says more than 43-hundred U-S Soldiers have died in Iraq and another 31-thousand were wounded.   Estimates of Iraqi civilian casualties range wildly from tens of thousands to hundreds of thousands.  And, nearly 140 journalists have been killed during the conflict.
