Loretto High School officials announced last month that the weak economy had eroded enrollment at the prestigious private school…where tuition is more than 11-thousand dollars.
But on Wednesday, a steering committee formed to create a business plan will present their proposal to the school’s owner – the Institute of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
Kathleen Campini Chambers with the group Save Loretto says the plan calls on the religious order to hold off on selling the property.
“Essentially we’re asking the order to stay around for one more year in the administration of the school and as the owner and operator of the school and provide us time to find a new buyer.”
The plan also calls for an aggressive marketing campaign to boost enrollment and a fundraiser to generate $2 million to cover operating deficits.
