The NBA and Cal Expo board have largely kept the Kings Arena talks behind closed doors in the year-and-a-half they’ve been working together. And neither side is saying much ahead of Friday’s meeting. But Cal Expo General Manager Norb Bartosik told Capital Public Radio a couple of months ago that he’s optimistic the plan could work – despite the slumping economy.
Bartosik: “Do I think this project has any opportunity for it to go forward? Absolutely. Do I think it’s gonna happen? It’ll all kinda come down to what we can put together in terms of numbers, find a developer, work with the board, work with the community and work with all of the parties that relate to traffic and development and the operation of the fairgrounds.”
The Cal Expo board will hear from its staff and the NBA Friday and then decide whether to move forward – including starting a search for developers.
