Democrat Doris Matsui says she thinks several local projects will get underway before the end of the year.
Matsui: “Light rail, especially in the south line there. And I think if we look at Highway 80 or Highway 50, we’ll see some progress there. You will start seeing the big equipment coming out.”
Matsui also expects to see a boost for flood protection efforts – but not the Natomas levees.
Meanwhile, Republican Dan Lungren is skeptical the package will work.
Lungren: “So I’m not gonna try to stand in the way of it, but the fact of the matter is, if this is used as the first in a number of steps toward bigger and bigger government, it’s gonna be disastrous for our kids.”
But Lungren says he does think some of his district’s freeway projects could get some help.
