A deal for the final Republican vote to pass a state budget is “millimeters away.”
That’s what a spokeswoman for GOP Senator Abel Maldonado told Capital Public Radio.
Maldonado would approve a $40 billion mix of taxes, spending cuts and borrowing in exchange for the legislature voting to place at least one constitutional amendment on the ballot. That measure would create an open primary system.
The Senate is currently scheduled to re-convene at 7pm.
