Marshall Medical Center in Placerville is the only hospital in the Sacramento region that earned recognition as a top-tier facility for patient care by HealthGrades. It’s an independent organization that measures hospital quality of care around the nation.
HealthGrades found that patients treated in high-rated hospitals are almost 30 percent less likely to die. From 2005-2007 the group looked at how well Medicare patients fared after having common procedures like heart surgery or treatment for pneumonia. More than 250 hospitals around the country made it on the top tier list, 25 were in California.
