Representative Dan Lungren says the package doesn’t spend money fast enough.

Lungren: “If you accept the argument that government spending of an immediate type will actually jump-start the economy when it’s in its doldrums, this fails the test because only a small percentage of the funding that was supposed to go forward would in fact be spent early and be that kind of an injection.”

Lungren also says the stimulus should include targeted tax cuts that would more effectively create jobs, and criticized House Democrats for not inviting more GOP input.

Lungren’s district stretches from the eastern suburbs of Sacramento through the foothills to the Nevada border.

Calls to several Democratic members of Congress from the Sacramento area were not returned.
