“It doesn’t make any sense for me to stand in front of you and talk about education or infrastructure or water or health care reform and all of those things when we have this huge budget deficit. I will talk about my vision for all of those things and more as soon as we get the budget done.”

California faces a $42 billion budget deficit over the next year-and-a-half. So far, Schwarzenegger has been unable to broker a deal with Democrats and Republicans over how to solve it.

He's also calling on lawmakers to go without pay for every day they fail to pass a budget past the June 15th constitutional deadline. Lawmakers blew that deadline by a record-long 85 days last year.
