In Sacramento, the average price for a gallon of unleaded is $2.05. That’s 33-cents higher than last month.
Analysts blame tensions in the Middle East and OPEC restricting world oil supplies.
Matt Skryja is with AAA. He says the tough economy and lower demand for gas could actually help push prices down again.
“AAA analysts expect if the price for a barrel of oil sticks around $40.00 that some time here in the start of 2009 the average could get back down to $1.55 for a national average.”
Right now, the national average is $1.79 for a gallon of gas.
Stockton saw the state’s biggest jump in gas prices over the last month by nearly 40 cents. Vallejo has one of the least expensive prices for a gallon of gas at just under $2.00.
