Captain Scott Jones with the Sacramento County Sheriffs Department says the investigation is ongoing, but the cause appears to be clear.
Jones: “Two PG&E employees were called out because of reports of people smelling what smelled like a gas leak. Thereafter, one of our officers that was on patrol driving about a mile away heard the explosion. It pretty much destroyed the entire house.”
The homes on either side were damaged as well, and the debris rained down in all directions.
The sheriffs department recommended the evacuation of nearby homes, but Jones says the evacuation is over.
