The parade starts at 2pm at Grant High School in the Del Paso Heights neighborhood of Sacramento, and finishes at City Hall for a 3:30pm rally.
Grant Senior cornerback Kevin Rich says he’d never played in a game this big before.
Rich: “It was pretty scary, but we kept our heads up and our confidence and we came out and we did it.”
Not only did the Pacers upset mighty Long Beach Poly – the top-ranked team in the state and second in the nation – they did so practically in Poly’s backyard.
Rich: “We came in as the underdogs, was underestimated, and we came out with the win.”
Grant scored the winning touchdown with just over a minute to play for the 25-20 victory. The Pacers finish the season a perfect 14-0 -- the first high school from Sacramento ever to win a state football championship.
