There are a dozen in this year’s Hall of Fame…. They’re selected by Governor Schwarzenegger and First Lady Maria Shriver to showcase exceptional Californians. There’s a formal induction ceremony but each also has a section in a special exhibit at the California Museum in Sacramento. Amanda Meeker is in charge of exhibits. Can you guess who the honorees are from her descriptions?

“You can see him in black and white on our little vintage television.  He had the longest running exercise program in history. 34 years it was on.
She’s talking about exercise guru Jack Lalanne.  How about this one?

“The most nominated actor in Academy history.  He’s had nominations in every decade since the 1960’s. He’s won three times.”

That’s actor Jack Nicholson.  He along with other honorees lent personal items to the museum. Lalanne loaned his famous red jumpsuit and exercise equipment.  Nicholson loaned costumes, Oscar statuettes and marked up movie scripts. He also included his second grade report card. It has a teacher’s note that says quote his self control needs improvement. Other honorees include Dr. Seuss, California’s first female architect Julia Morgan, music producer Quincy Jones, Chef and organic food champion Alice Waters, and Jazz great Dave Brubeck.
