Michael Peterson is with the Sacramento County Department of Water Resources.

“Sacramento’s the ‘City of Trees’ so it’s really one of the primary ways that we end up having street flooding and even property flooding.”

Peterson says with so many fall leaves on the ground blocking storm drains, street flooding is a real threat this weekend. But he says county crews will be ready.

“We will probably have people on call in case anything gets really big. But we’re kind of just eager to see a little rain coming. That’s going to be good for us as far as the water supply goes.”

Last December and January, the county got nearly 2,000 flood-related reports.
