And for residents who bought flood insurance before December 8th, at the reduced rates, there’s good news.

Their rates will not go up next year. 

Sacramento Congresswoman Doris Matsui says FEMA has agreed to let homeowners renew their preferred rate policies for an additional 12-months. She said that will save homeowners more than $900. 
 
Earlier this year, the Army Corps of Engineers and FEMA ruled that the levees in Natomas are unacceptable and that the flood risk is three times greater than originally thought.

The Sacramento Area Flood Control Agency is working on improving those levees and bringing the area to 200-year-flood protection.
