Police are calling these crimes “cat burglaries.”

“They’re classified as cat burglaries because the residents have been asleep when these are occurring.”

Sergeant Norm Leong with the Sacramento Police Department says that since July, there have been a dozen cat burglaries in the McKinley Park and Fab 40s areas of East Sacramento.

“The entry method has usually been through open doors or windows.”

And that’s why police are reminding residents to lock their doors and windows. They’re also asking neighbors to keep an eye out for any suspicious activity.

“We hope that the East Sacramento community begins to look out for eachother and through their help and assistance we’ll be able to arrest these guys.”

So far, police don’t have a description of the suspects.
