43-year-old Deputy Lawrence Canfield was assigned to the Rancho Cordova Police Department… which contracts with the sheriff's department. He was killed in a collision on Coloma Road. 

Sergeant Tim Curran with the sheriff's department says the deputy was struck by a 79-year-old driver. The crash remains under investigation. 

Deputy Canfield was a 13-year veteran of the Sheriff’s Department. He’s survived by his wife and two children.
