Many areas…like Sacramento, Stockton and Modesto…saw prices drop by more than a dollar in the last month. Cynthia Harris is with Triple-A which monitors gas prices. She says it may be a few months before prices go up again.

“Probably we will continue with these low prices through Thanksgiving holiday and maybe up through Christmas but after that we really don’t know what’s going to happen. There are so many variables. People are just not spending as much and are canceling trips or driving less."

Harris says the current price-drops at the pump can be tied to the dip in crude oil prices which have fallen about 56% since mid-July.
In Sacramento, the average price of a gallon of gas is now $2.36. Nationally, the average price fell 94 cents in November to $2.22.
