Sacramento State public policy professor Bob Waste says Johnson has a lot of work to do – starting with picking the team he’ll take with him to City Hall.
Waste: “Mayor Fargo had two or three rotating people who all were kind of co-equal chiefs of staff. So the first question for Kevin is, is that model going to work, or should there be one person in an inverted period below him or her.”
And knowing Johnson’s strictly organized management style?
Waste: “I’m guessing there’s gonna be one person.”
Johnson sat down with city manager Ray Kerridge yesterday, and by the end of today, he’ll have met with seven of the eight city council members. Both he and Kerridge’s office say Sacramento’s mounting budget deficit is a top priority.
