Nicole Winger with the Secretary of State’s office says things there are pretty busy:

“It is literally all hands on deck”

She says that’s because of the unprecedented interest in the election:

"Calls are ringing at a rate of about one-thousand to two-thousand calls per day and voter registration cards are coming in on average about 20-thousand per day.”

And that doesn’t even count the cards going directly to county elections offices.  By the way, that’s where you can head if you still need to register. Some counties – like Sacramento and Los Angeles will hold voter registration drives until midnight.  Secretary of State Bowen doesn’t predict voter turnout, but she has said she wouldn’t be surprised if Californians set a new record this election
