Stuart Brown is a spokesman for Mammoth Lakes. On KXJZ’s Insight, he said the hiker found several personal items tangled in a bush.

"A local resident was hiking about seven miles west of Mammoth Mountain in a very rugged and steep terrain and found three ID cards, he found a sum of cash and also found a black, pullover fleece."

Fossett disappeared in September of 2007, after taking off in a single-engine plane borrowed from a Nevada ranch owned by hotel magnate Barron Hilton.
