Looking for cheap parking rates? You’d have better luck in the nation’s capital than in California’s capital. Sacramento is the nation’s 29th most expensive city for daily parking. At $15.50 for the day, Sacramento’s rates are higher than Denver, Santa Monica and even Washington DC. We’re 50 cents cheaper than Beverly Hills and $2.50 more than Portland, Ore. The numbers come from the National Parking Association, which surveyed 131 cities in the United States and Canada. It found the North American average for daily parking is $13.25. The city is certainly cheaper than many others. San Diego, New York and Honolulu topped the list at more than $34 dollars per day. Some parking experts say a higher cost is the price of success. Marty Stein, president of the association, said Sacramento has a strong heartbeat with businesses growing and hiring more people.
