Clear Channel is putting up a 48-by-14 foot digital sign that’ll be visible from Highway 50. It’ll display everything from advertisements to campus events and Amber Alerts.

Marti Gray is with Sacramento State. She says Clear Channel is paying the university $750,000. And about half of that is being used for research projects.

"I’ve heard from a couple of faculty how helpful those grants were to help them do their research. So it certainly provided a source of funds that the university would not have been able to provide at this time."

Gray says the digital sign will be operational by July 31st and display about eight messages a minute.

The sign will stand about 55-feet above the elevated portion of Highway 50, where it crosses Folsom Boulevard.
