Questions Over Safety Of Mosquito Spraying In Sacramento Area

A three day effort to kill off mosquitoes in the Sacramento area is finishing up. 

 

It’s intended to prevent the spread of West Nile Virus, which can be deadly for animals and humans. 

 

But some people who live in the spray areas say insecticide used to eradicate the bugs could be dangerous…

 

Gary Goodman is assistant district manager with the Sacramento-Yolo mosquito and vector control.

 

He says the district sprays a chemical that has organic origins and is safe…

The district plans to wrap-up its spraying program for mosquitoes in Sacramento’s “Pocket”, Florin and Elk Grove areas tonight.
