The lanes were scheduled to re-open Tuesday at 5 AM. But that’s been pushed back to Thursday at 1 PM.

Work crews have been putting the final layer of polyester concrete on the southbound lanes, between Richards Boulevard and the Capital City Freeway.

But officials say they can’t do it when it gets over 90 degrees outside.

Last week, there were several days of triple digit temperatures.

Caltrans has also postponed the final closure of northbound lanes. That’ll happen this Friday at 8 PM.

Work crews are replacing an aging drainage system and repaving the stretch of Interstate 5 known as the “boat section”.
