So far this year…18 birds have died from West Nile virus in Sacramento and Yolo counties… and there have been 34 positive mosquito samples. 

Vector Control officials say South Sacramento has the highest risk of West Nile virus transmission because of multiple positive dead birds and mosquito samples found there. 

They say once the weather improves…possibly next week…they’ll reevaluate whether or not to spray.
