Captain John Brackenbury with the Salvation Army in Sacramento says they distributed between 250 and 300 bottles to some very thankful homeless men and women.
"They’re glad that somebody cares. And so when we or other people are able to come out and say ‘we’re concerned about you and here’s just a bottle of water to let you know that we do care and we are thinking about you.’ It really says a lot to them."
Brackenbury says they may hand out more water bottles Wednesday. He also says the Salvation Army is ready to open cooling centers if they get the go-ahead from state and local officials.
