Advanced Data Centers has plans for a possible 237,000-square-foot energy-efficient complex for servers, or about the size of two Wal-Mart stores. ADC’s goal is to cut power consumption and save clients — such as banks, insurance companies and other large businesses — big money. The company’s first building at the campus — a 66,000-square-foot data center — has already earned the U.S. Green Building Council’s Platinum honor, the highest level of environmental friendliness for buildings. The center is designed to use 25 to 30 percent less power, with features such as advanced airflow systems that use outside air for cooling and other systems that pump hot air out.
