Both state and local elections officials report low turnout…possibly a record low. Brad Buyse is campaign manager for Sacramento County Elections.
"The mayoral race in the City of Sacramento is the only thing that’s sort of holding our election together and we do anticipate that we’re going to have a halfway decent turnout in the City of Sacramento but county wide as a whole, it’s going to be one of all time lows we think."
Buyse says early returns will reflect absentee ballots mailed in before Election Day.
California’s Secretary of State Debra Bowen says things went smoothly this Election Day. And Bowen says although turnout was low, she expects huge numbers for the next election… in November.
