Attendance Down at Sacramento Jazz Jubilee
Rain kept a lot of music fans home at the start of the 35th Annual Jazz Jubilee

Sacramento’s 35th annual Jazz Jubilee reports lower attendance due to the wet weather over Memorial Day weekend. But, officials say that isn’t stopping them from planning next year’s festival.
Jazz Jubilee executive director Gene Berthelson says when the cool rains set in Saturday…he was concerned that attendance numbers would suffer. And, they did…a little. He says sunny warmer weather on Sunday and Monday helped give the concert series a last minute boost…
“I still have a glow from it…we had a big, big closing ceremony at the end of the freeway and it was just mobbed.”
Still…overall attendance was down about 8-percent compared to last year’s Jubilee. Berthelson says a total of about 65-thousand music fans came to the downtown area…and he says there’s already a buzz about the next festival…
“I just got an email from somebody who asked when can I buy tickets for 2009…”
Berthelson says tickets will be available in September…that’s when the performers for the 2009 Jazz Jubilee will be announced.
