It finds that 63% of the residents polled have not left their cars at home to take mass transit, carpool, bike or walk.
Sac State Sociology professor Amy Liu conducted the poll.
"The price of gas really increased but not high enough to force people to change. If you can still afford it, it’s much more convenient to continue your old lifestyle."
The survey found that only 37% of Sacramento area residents have used carpooling, walking or biking instead of driving.
But Liu says that number may be higher now. The poll was conducted between February and March when gas prices were still around $3.40 a gallon. They’re now about $4.00 a gallon.
