Nguyen Quoc Quan was arrested last November for passing out pro-democracy literature during a trip back to his native Vietnam. On KXJZ’s Insight program, Nguyen explain why he did it.

"To explain to our people how powerless people can get together to make power to get back what we belongs to us."

Nguyen’s wife, Nyo My Hung, says she’s relieved he’s back home.

"I’m on top of the world. Everything is over now. You know, a couple of days have passed already, I still feel like it’s a dream."

Nguyen was tried last week in Vietnam on terrorism charges and found guilty but released because of time already served.

The 54-year-old political activist is a member of the Viet Tan Party. He says he plans to eventually return to Vietnam to fight for democracy.
