Democratic Assemblywoman Cathleen Galgiani is the author of the bill.  It would require computer repair techs to report it if they find child pornography while working on someone’s machine.  Actress Alison Arngrim of the T.V. show “Little House on the Prairie” is in favor of the measure.  She says she experienced the reluctance of others to get involved when she was being abused as a child—and this measure will help.

“These are real children who are being tortured sometimes even in their own homes whose images are on computers everywhere. This provides protection to people who find these during their work and wish to save these children.”

If the measure’s approved computer repair technicians would be included along with teachers, doctors as well as commercial film and photo processors as those who must report such findings.
