The campaign for Republican State Senator Jeff Denham has filed criminal complaints against Senate President Pro-Tem Don Perata.

The group called The Friends of Jeff Denham Against the Recall has filed two criminal complaints against Perata.  Denham’s campaign accuses the top Democrat of demanding legislative staff participate in campaign activities.

The complaints include allegations of misuse of public funds and falsifying legislative employee time sheet records.  Both were filed with the Sacramento County District Attorney’s Office and the state Attorney General’s office.

Perata has helped fund the effort to recall Denham which is on the June ballot.  In response, recall campaign spokesman Paul Hefner calls the complaints utterly ridiculous.
