"They will be picking up about 7 tons of garbage."

Dianna Aguilar is with the American River Parkway Foundation. She’s helping to organize a Spring Cleanup along the 23-mile parkway in Sacramento…Saturday from 9 AM to noon.

"The rain has brought a lot of schmutz down through the river bed…fishing lines, garbage bags, things that have floated around but primarily litter."

Volunteers will focus on five sites: Watt & La Riviera; Geothe Park; Lower Sunrise; Ancil Hoffman; and Northgate at Highway 160.

Aguilar says if you plan on volunteering, be sure to wear long pants and sturdy, closed-toed shoes.

About 350 volunteers are expected to help pick up trash.
