Just over 60-thousand high school seniors have been admitted to the UC system. That’s up from last year’s 57-thousand. But with a record number of applicants this year – just over 121-thousand - the admissions rate actually declined. 75 percent of those who applied were admitted this year – that’s compared to 77 percent last year.
The admission of Latino students is up 16 percent – and the admission of African American students is up 11 percent. An additional 85-hundred students who were not accepted into their first-choice university are being offered admission at UC Merced or UC Riverside. University officials should have a good picture next month of how many students will actually attend in the fall.
