The annual endurance run from Sacramento to Auburn is Saturday.

Race Director Greg Soderlund says the weather forecast, for sunny skies and highs in the 70s, is NOT the best news.

"You know, I’ll have to warn the runners to make sure they hydrate throughout the event. The ideal conditions would be something in the mid 50s. So this will be a little warm."

The course runs along the American River. Gloria Takagishi has run the AR 50 every year since it started in 1980. She says the rocky terrain is a challenge.

"Between Granite Bay and Horseshoe Bar there’s these rocks you need to climb over. For me, I’m short, so climbing up some of those steps, it’s a hard climb."

The race starts Saturday at 6 AM near Sacramento State’s Guy West footbridge. The first place runner is expected to arrive in Auburn by noon. All runners who cross the finish line in under 13-hours get a special finisher’s jacket.
