The nurse’s union reached a tentative agreement with UC officials last weekend after 11 months of bargaining. Beth Kean is the chief negotiator with the California Nurses Association. She says the agreement includes a six-percent raise this year.

"We’re very happy with the settlement. We were able to receive an across the board increase across the state that is in line with what other hospital nurses are negotiating at this point in time."

UC officials say the agreement is positive news for nurses and patients. Nearly 2,000 nurses that work at the UC Davis Med Center and the student health center on the Davis campus will be voting on the contract over the next four days.
