Both military and civilian planes are expected to fly over the Sacramento area. Pilots will be arriving and holding practice sessions for the third annual California Capital Airshow at Mather Airport near Rancho Cordova.
This year’s highlight?
"The big headlining performer is the U.S. Navy Blue Angels."
Cheryl Marcell is with the airshow. She says on top of the aerial acrobatics, they’ll have dozens of planes displayed on the ground, flight simulators and more.
Marcell says part of the proceeds support budding pilots.
"This year we will have awarded I believe 20 scholarships to kids that are seeking careers in aviation or aerospace industries."
Organizers expect between 70,000 and 100,000 people to show up at the airshow this coming Saturday and Sunday.
