Racers are expected to roll into town over the Tower Bridge around 2 PM. If you plan on watching the race, Bob Burns with the Sacramento Sports Commission has this tip:
"The spots on the race course that are really exciting are the turns like for instance on 18th and L. The majority of the crowd goes down to Capitol Park because it finishes right in front of the Capitol. But I think the turns are about as exciting as anything."
This is the second year-in-a-row that the Amgen Tour has come through Sacramento. Last year’s event drew around 30,000 spectators and generated about $3 million from things like hotel stays and restaurant dining. Dozens of streets around the State Capitol building will be closed to accommodate the racers.
