Ann Stevenson is with Delta Blood Bank in Stockton. She says it’s getting harder to find healthy blood donors.
"When we call our donors, they are reporting that they are ill and cannot come in to donate, so it is impacting our blood supply. We need to collect 250 units of blood a day in order to service our area hospitals. We’re falling below that number everyday."
Stevenson says they’re encouraging more people to donate blood to make up for the shortage. Repeat donors are rewarded with gifts ranging from chocolate to recreational activities.
