There were reports of confusion from voters and poll workers on Election Day. They had questions about which ballots non-partisan voters could have—and how poll workers should inform them. Senator Florez’s legislation would require non-partisan voters to receive a document at the polls, indicating which ballots they could choose. Florez says there must be clear guidelines.
“We have to mandate this stuff. We cannot leave room for wiggle, if you will, if folks get to wiggle in many cases we have bad results. And I think we’re trying to get as much as possible the types of surety that voters want…”
Secretary of State Debra Bowen says she has not spoken with Florez about his bill. She has said there must be statewide legislation to address the problem.
