Insurance Commissioner Steve Poizner sank two-and-a-half million dollars of his own money into the “No on Prop. 93” campaign.  The initiative would have reduced lawmakers overall time in office but they could serve it all in one house.  It was backed by Democratic leaders—who could have run again to keep their jobs. Poizner says voters saw through that.

“It’s time for these termed out politicians to go home. Theyknew the rules!”

Poizner says now lawmakers should focus on changing the way political districts are drawn.  He wants that power taken away from legislators.

“The fact is this state would benefit tremendously from fair and free elections and that one step would go a long way to restoring some of that lost integrity in the legislature.”

Poizner says he is examining a redistricting measure backed by Governor Schwarzenegger.
