Sacramento could help power thousands of homes in Canada if plans for a 657,000-square-foot manufacturing plant at McClellan Park become reality. OptiSolar Inc., which hopes to build large solar-power projects in Ontario, Canada, has tentative plans for a solar-panel manufacturing plant that would create about 500 jobs at the business park. The company would take almost half of the 1.4 million-square-foot building, which also houses J.C. Penney, Bekins Van Lines and Sacramento Container. OptiSolar is looking at the local business park because of possible incentives, including a tax break on utilities. The company hopes to start manufacturing solar panels at the plant by the end of the year.
